Who thinks I should do a review of our 2006 A3 3.2 Quattro?
It’s quite a rare car (111 white ones for ‘06 in the U.S) and there’s lots of weird quirks about it.

I do, because of course I do.
I’ve always liked the A3, but unfortunately in the US they weren’t available with manual and Quattro. Two of my requirements.

Next year we plan on doing one of two things to it: source a Euro manual and ECU and swap out the transmissions, or install the 035 Motorsports turbo kit.

I do!!!! I want to know how many problems you’ve had with it, reliability, etc. Do you have the panoramic sunroof? Does it actually work?

if your decide to mod it, paint or p-dip the wheels white

Try a couple small thing sin the meantime!
The 3.2 is an interesting motor. The stock exhaust sounds good though, amiright?

Oh yeah, sunroof works great! As a matter of fact, we used it this past week.

Oh my lord its great. I truly think it is one of the best sounding V6 engines of this century, thus far.

Yeah, heavy brake dust on the wheels right now.
But the owner doesn’t like white wheels (I’ve already tried), but charcol gray wheels will probably be in the A3’s future.

HNGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Only reason I chose my A6 over a 3.2 A4 was because of the aftermarket.

I wouldn’t pay for it. I’d enjoy it though.
![]() 12/19/2015 at 20:11 |

OK, but what’s better:
![]() 12/19/2015 at 20:12 |
|
oh yes!
![]() 12/19/2015 at 20:20 |

Well too bad, because it’s going to cost $150 aka the cost to fix the broken door hinge.

Audi fan here. Do it.
![]() 12/19/2015 at 20:38 |

And I have to pay for it?
Crap!

I think the kids are calling it, “crowdfunding,” nowadays.

Do it. Do it. Do it right, do it good, imma review that Audi just like I should.
Rear seats.
No room.
Why do I have legs?

I’d honestly be interested - most of those I see are the turbo 4. I always kinda liked those - wondered what you get when springing for the 6cyl.

Quattro as standard, 24 MPG, extremely planted legit sports car, among many other things.
Random question: do you live in Seattle/Bremerton? Because my dad lives on Bainbridge, and I have spent too much time on the MV Puyallup and Tacoma.

Over on the eastside actually - but my folks retired to Whidbey a number of years ago so the ferry is a fairly regular occurrence. Bainbridge is nice - work with some folks that take the ferry into downtown daily.

Damn Hipster Youth!

Yes, you should. I’ve always wondered how these handle. Everyone goes on about Mercedes and BMW handling but when it comes to a non-R8 and non-TT Audi barely anybody says a peep about handling.

And my sister lives in Kent. I love Western Washington, especially the city and over on the Peninsula. It always beats Raleigh.

Hey but crowdfunding did make this:
And this is awesome.
![]() 12/19/2015 at 22:10 |

That is awesome! No doubting that.

I’ll give a brief rundown now: Like a dream. Surprisingly quite planted and stable (the tires do help with that), and it just wants to keep turning. Unlike most modern sports vehicles you feel like you’re driving the car, not a computer.
![]() 12/19/2015 at 22:19 |
|
Yes please.
![]() 12/19/2015 at 22:32 |
|
Awesome. Does it suffer from understeer like some AWD cars are prone to?
![]() 12/19/2015 at 22:39 |
|
At times, but not as much as other Audis. It’s no R8, and it doesn’t have a trick torque-vectoring system, but 4Motion (it isn’t a real Quattro, but more on that in the real review) is quite an impressive setup.

K.
Random question: are you from the Seattle area? My father lives on Bainbridge, and my sister lives in Kent.

I’d like to hear about it. My dad has a 2.0T with a Revo tune. I’d like to hear about your experience as my preconceived notion is that the V6 in in stock trim is a lot more weight for not much more power. I love to be proven wrong. Good job staying away from the TDi, a majority of the ones I see driving around are just that.
Side note: What wheels are those? They’re badass
![]() 12/20/2015 at 03:42 |

I live in Seattle but I’m not from around here.
![]() 12/20/2015 at 09:20 |

Ours has a Unitronic tune, so it’s pushing 280 at the crank. There are many differences between the 3.2 and the 2.0, namely Quattro as standard. I think the Quattro AWD really helps the car in the handling department, and there is literally zero wheelspin off the line.
The wheels are actually stock. They came as an option on the 3.2 S-Line package, and I've only seen one other A3 3.2 with them, and that was up in Ohii.

I see. I really love that area.
